A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
A 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA or better or a 2.5 GPA in last 60 semester hours
A minimum of 12 semester credit hours in the subject-specific content area for the certification sought, unless certification sought is for mathematics or science then 15 semester credit hours are needed.
Pass TX PACT (only if needed)
Pass a critical thinking exam with a 45 or better

The TOEFL-IBT (Test of English as a Foreign
Language-Internet Based Test Code B241) applies to candidates graduated from another country. A minimum score of 26-Speaking, 22-Listening,22-Reading, and a 21 on Writing.

COMPLETE INSTITUTE TRAINING: 150 HOURS MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO TEACHING
Pass content exam (TExES)
50 clock hours of field experience
